Undiano: Church, Plaster History and Hiking Trails

In Undiano, the first point of interest is the Church of San Martín de Tours. It is a medieval building from the 14th century with a single-nave layout and four sections covered by cross-ribbed vaults; the polygonal Gothic chancel retains its original ribbed vault.

Culture and History

Undiano was an important centre of plaster production. In 1411, plaster from Undiano was transported for repair work at the royal palace of Pamplona. Historically, there were around eighty salt evaporation beds and an associated well north of Undiano in a hollow.

The Ermita de Santa Águeda was restored in 1950 and stands to the right of the Puerto del Perdón, near the Ipasate area. An inscription on the lintel dates it to 1795; its floor plan is simply rectangular. Undiano has a public swimming pool.

The circular trail from Undiano to the Ermita de Santa Águeda offers views of the Pamplona basin, northern Navarre and the Pyrenees of Navarre and Huesca.
