Cadreita between the Ebro and Aragón
Cadreita lies on the left bank of the Río Ebro, downstream and near the confluence with the Río Aragón. The town is also located on the Camino de la Vera Cruz. For your planning, you can consider the riverside setting, pilgrimage route, culture, events and cycling as separate thematic focuses alongside one another.
Culture and Architectural History
The Casa Ducal is a reformed 18th-century building attached to the parish church. The Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel is a modern parish church dating from 1959, with two matching towers made of exposed brick.
The Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel preserves a Romanesque depiction of Nuestra Señora de Belén from the 14th century. The church also preserves two Mannerist altarpieces from 1608 with Italianate panel paintings by Juan de Lumbier. Anyone wishing to view religious art chronologically and stylistically can consider these details separately alongside one another. When gaining a cultural overview, you can treat buildings, sacred artworks and the Torre del Agua as independent topics.
The Torre del Agua
The Torre del Agua was built as a water tank in 1953–1954. In 2022, Alberto Sesma redesigned it as part of a tourism project by the municipality of Cadreita. The tower was refurbished as a tourist information point and observatory with a viewing platform.
The Torre del Agua has a hexagonal floor plan and is 17.90 metres high. When reading about the town’s history, the original water function, later redesign, tourist refurbishment and structural dimensions can be classified as separate stages of development.
Cycling Routes for Different Formats
The Club Ciclista de Cadreita organises short bike rides in the area around the town during the summer for children and less well-trained participants. One cycling circuit open to everyone consists of a 3 km urban loop, ridden three times.
The seasonal short rides and the designated circuit differ in terms of timing, route length and format. For your daily planning, you can compare these three characteristics directly.
Festivals Celebrating Agriculture and Tomatoes
The Jornada de Agroturismo is scheduled for the weekend close to 24 June. The annual Día del Tomate in Cadreita celebrates the importance of tomatoes and their preservation with competitions, tastings, music and family activities. For your travel planning, you can consider the events mentioned separately according to date and theme.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Cadreita, you can compare the travel period, room category and cancellation conditions side by side on the accommodation pages. This information provides an objective basis for planning your dates and contract, while you weigh up cultural, scenic, culinary and active focuses separately.
