Culture and Remembrance

In Lardero, the Cementerio Civil–Memorial La Barranca and its protected surroundings are designated as a Cultural Heritage Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Site.

The La Barranca Memorial was established in 1979 in memory of more than 400 people who were murdered at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.

The sculpture Las Mujeres de Negro at the La Barranca Memorial was inaugurated on 1 November 2011 as a tribute to the women from whom the Asociación La Barranca emerged.

Churches and Historic Buildings

The Iglesia Parroquial de Lardero is a Late Gothic building from the first half of the 16th century.

Its notable architectural features include a very broad single-nave body, divided into three sections by semicircular interior buttresses.

The interior of the church is covered with complex star-ribbed vaults.

The Basílica de San Marcial was built around 1716 by Gregorio de Alzola from ashlar stone and masonry.

Its main altar is Baroque and dates from the first half of the 18th century.

The Templete of the Crucero con Templete dates from the 17th century and is built of ashlar stone; the structure stands at the exit of Lardero in the direction of Entrena.

A building at 13 González Gallarza has two floors made of ashlar stone and masonry, as well as a third floor made of adobe bricks or earthen building materials.

Routes and Road Connections

Lardero is connected via the N-111 with Logroño and with cities such as Soria and Burgos.

The LR-254 provides access from Lardero to the AP-68.

Sport and Local Cuisine
