The Puerta de San Andrés, also known as Puerta Villa, was built onto the side of a parish church. Only the tower of the Church of San Lorenzo remains; locally, it is known as the Torre de San Lorenzo. On 1 November 1466, thirteen towns took the world’s first vow to the Immaculate Conception in the Church of San Nicolás de Bari in Villalpando. In the same church, a nearly four-metre-high mural by the painter Antonio Pedrero commemorates the historic vow to the Immaculate Conception in Villalpando. In Villalpando, the feast of the Purísima is solemnly celebrated every year on 8 December.
