Culture and History

The Maestro de Robredo was active between 1475 and 1490. Remains of the Romanesque Church of San Pedro have been preserved: a single-nave building with a semicircular apse and simply decorated corbels beneath the eaves. A statement recorded by papal commissioners in Oña in 1209 mentions a monastery called Sancti Petri de Robledo.

Most authors consider Robredo de Zamanzas to be the site of the former Monastery of San Pantaleón. The Romanesque Church of San Pedro was built approximately in the second half of the 12th century. The church’s simple baptismal font was recovered from the ruins and placed at the entrance to Robredo de Zamanzas.

Hiking
