History and structures

The surviving defensive complex of Tedeja Fortress was built in the 5th century AD during the Late Roman period.

The fortification of Castillo de Tedeja comprises a wall approximately 2 metres thick, preceded by a ditch about 12 metres wide.

The Centro de Interpretación Arqueológica del Desfiladero de la Horadada is located in the former storage or hangar building of the Santander–Mediterráneo railway station in Trespaderne.

The medieval bridge of Trespaderne served the movement of goods and people and also functioned as a checkpoint and toll station. The restored bridge retains a large part of its original structure, is protected as historical heritage and continues to be used as well as visited by tourists. As a Romanesque bridge, it crosses the Nela River.

The religious complex of Santa María de los Reyes Godos in La Horadada Gorge had an evangelising function and served as a baptistery as well as an important necropolis.

Next to Santa María de los Reyes Godos stands a monumental fountain with a basin, which may have been dated to the period between the beginning of the 6th century and the middle of the 7th century AD.

Iglesia de San Vicente is an example of Baroque religious architecture built in the 18th century. It houses gilded altarpieces, religious frescoes and a collection of sacred art preserved over generations.
