Culture and Geological History

At the Museo de Dinosaurios, the exhibition displays the bones of a rebaquisaurid dinosaur. The first exhibition area follows a simple linear tour from the Lower Palaeolithic to the Early Middle Ages. A large part of the finds made there is also on display. For your own visit, two approaches can be distinguished: the chronological arrangement of the exhibition area and the specific dinosaur finds.

Culture and Art

The Iglesia de Santa María was consecrated in 1492 in the Gothic style. Its main altarpiece is a Renaissance work from 1550 attributed to Diego Guillén. The Iglesia de Santa Cecilia is a Gothic church with three naves, columns, arches and stone star vaults. Its main altarpiece is a Classical work from 1640 dedicated to Saint Cecilia. Nature and History

Peña Rota is a complex of 13 artificial caves carved into the rock, associated with hermit life in the Sierra de la Demanda between the 8th and 11th centuries. A short walk from Peña Rota leads to the natural sandstone bridge Puente de San Miguel. From there, you can enjoy a panorama of Salas de los Infantes and its surroundings. At Costalomo, the dinosaur footprints emerge from the rock layer as rounded reliefs rather than sinking into the rock. The Tenadas de Costalomo site was the first place where dinosaur footprints were mentioned in the province of Burgos. These different forms – caves, bridge and reliefs – can be read as independent landscape themes without combining them into a single attraction.

Seasonal Tradition

The Jornadas Micológicas take place in November and have been held since 1984. For scheduling purposes, this November event stands alongside the museum, church and landscape themes described independently of it.
