Culture between the Saltworks and Town Centre

The Casa de Administración de las Reales Salinas was built between 1786 and 1789; today, its cellar houses the Centro de Interpretación Las Salinas.

The medieval town centre of Poza de la Sal was declared a historic and artistic heritage site in 1982. Its labyrinthine street layout features narrow, steep lanes and densely packed houses.

The parish church of San Cosme y San Damián was declared a historic and artistic monument in 1974. The church contains a Baroque high altar from the 18th century, created by the brothers Cortés del Valle.

The traditional Danza del Escarrete is performed during the San Blas festival on the first Sunday closest to 3 February.

Saltworks and Landscape

The Centro de Interpretación de las Reales Salinas gives visitors an overview of the use of the saltworks, the experiences of the last salt workers, the existing industrial heritage and the phenomenon of the diapir.

The Espacio Medioambiental de la Infancia Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente recalls the personality and legacy of the naturalist Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente through short stories told by friends and relatives, as well as his childhood in the natural environment that shaped him.

The Diapiro de Poza de la Sal is one of the most significant geological formations in the province and consists of large masses of salt that emerge at the surface.

The Salinas de Poza de la Sal lie on the edge of the Páramo de Masa, in a crater-like diapir approximately 2.5 kilometres in diameter.
