The Senda do río Caselas begins in the parish of Santa María, in the village of As Pontes.

The Área recreativa das Covas in the parish of Santa María is a riverside area on the Caselas River. Tables and benches are part of this area. There is also a barbecue area and the Fonte das Covas spring.

Trails and mills

The Parque etnográfico dos muíños do río Caselas comprises five mills. The Muíño da Laxe, also known as dos Cregos, was established as an interpretation centre. It was put into operation for visits and various activities.

Culture and history

The Senda Fluvial Valentín Paz Andrade includes an area dedicated to the writer Valentín Paz Andrade. The Pombal de Antero is located along this trail. Álvaro Antero Pérez Troncoso built the dovecote. It was built in the 1960s.

The northern entrance of the Igrexa Parroquial de Santa María de Salceda is known as the “Puerta de la Reina”. This entrance commemorates Queen Aragonta.

Pazo Pegullal has a geometrically designed garden, while Pazo de Aballe is a Baroque building with a U-shaped layout and two storeys. The two pazos therefore represent different architectural features: the geometric garden design on the one hand and the Baroque U-shape with two storeys on the other.

Nature

The Carballeira de Xabarís contains oak trees. These oaks are over 100 years old. One of the oaks is estimated to be 220 years old.

Tradition

Two neighbourhoods express their rivalry through various events. These events take place on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
