Vilariño: O Invernadeiro and Entroido

Nature

O Invernadeiro is a mountainous natural area. It is located in the Sierra de Vilariño de Conso in Ourense. This area lies south of the central massif of the province of Ourense.

In O Invernadeiro Nature Park, visitors may, with a little luck, spot roe deer, red deer or ibex. A tour of O Invernadeiro begins at the Aula de la Naturaleza and leads to the Centro Ictiogénico. The destination is a trout breeding laboratory where the infrastructure can be viewed.

Thus, in O Invernadeiro, the landscape of the Sierra meets specific stations within the nature park. The nature experience includes both the mountainous surroundings and the opportunity to see various wild animals. The tour identifies two clearly designated points within this natural area: the Aula de la Naturaleza and the Centro Ictiogénico.

Routes

The R9 is called Ruta del Embalse del Vao. It is an easy mountain biking route for all levels. Its circular route goes around the Encoro do Vao in the municipality of Vilariño de Conso.

The circular PR-G 118 route is called Ruta dos Soutos. It begins in the main town of the municipality of Vilariño de Conso. The main route of this circuit is 7.9 km long.

In addition to the tour in the nature park, two named routes are therefore central: the R9 follows a circular route around the Encoro do Vao, while the PR-G 118 begins in the main town of the municipality. The length of the main route of the Ruta dos Soutos is also given as 7.9 kilometres. The R9 is expressly described as an easy mountain biking route for all levels.

Culture

A fair is held in the municipality of Vilariño de Conso on the 4th of every month. The Entroido de Vilariño de Conso is part of the "Entroidos del Oriente Ourensano" festival. This festival is of national tourist interest.

The Boteiro is the central figure of the Entroido de Vilariño de Conso. He leads the Fulión.

The Fuliada is a satirical and mischievous performance about current topics. Politics and religion are among these topics. The Fuliada also addresses the social events that took place in the village during the previous year.

Domingo Gordo includes the large parade of the Fulións. The Festa do Cabrito is also part of this day.

The Entroido thus combines an officially highlighted festive context with its own figures and forms of expression. The Boteiro leads the Fulión, while the Fuliada satirically and mischievously addresses current topics, politics, religion and the past year's social events in the village. On Domingo Gordo, the Fulións appear in a large parade; the Festa do Cabrito is also part of this day.

Markets and dessert

The Feiron is a street market. It takes place at Praza da Vila in Vilariño de Conso.

Montonico is a layered dessert. These layers consist of dulce de leche and meringue.

The monthly fair on the 4th and the Feiron at Praza da Vila refer to two different markets within the municipality. In contrast, Montonico focuses on the ingredients and structure: dulce de leche and meringue form the layers of the dessert.
