Culture

San Cibrao de Las was classified as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) in November 2025 because of its uniqueness. The Igrexa de San Fiz de Navío is a Romanesque church on a hillside overlooking the Avia River. The church has a single-nave layout and a rectangular apse. The Igrexa da Nosa Señora das Neves de Grixoa is an 18th-century Baroque church. Its main altar is Baroque and includes sculptures of Saint Gregory, Saint Francis and Saint Teresa. Directly beside the Igrexa da Nosa Señora das Neves de Grixoa, a monumental peto de ánimas stands on a high pedestal. The Igrexa de Santa Ouxea de Eiras was built between 1670 and 1740 with clear Baroque features. Its main altar is documented as dating from 1704; the master from Ourense, Francisco Castro Canseco, created the Baroque figures of the patron saint, Saint Joseph and Saint John for it. Casa de Justino Nóvoa, also known as Pazo de Eiras, has a 17th-century heraldic coat of arms above the entrance gate to the courtyard. The main building of the Chu Sup Tsang monastery complex was originally a traditional Galician country house and was acquired in 2008. Casa de Sabariz dates from the 17th century and has an angular floor plan with an enclosed courtyard and a tower at the junction of the two wings.

These historic monuments combine different architectural forms and periods: the single-nave Romanesque layout of San Fiz de Navío is followed by Baroque church interiors, altar sculptures and figures. The heraldic coat of arms, former country house, monastery complex and angular Pazo floor plan add distinctive details to this architectural diversity.
