Entrimo: River Pools, Waterfalls and Historic Trails

The Baixa Limia–Serra do Xurés Nature Park, granite rocks at Castelo da Pica and waterways with natural pools shape the excursions around Entrimo. The nature park is part of a cross-border protected area that, together with Peneda-Gerês National Park, forms a single protected area. Castelo da Pica is a natural monument made up of vertically stacked granite rocks approximately nine metres high.

Nature

The Porta do Parque de Entrimo is an information and interpretation centre housed in a restored traditional building. It presents the Baixa Limia–Serra do Xurés Nature Park and its distinctive geomorphology. Mirador de O Pedreiriño was established in 1980 as a recreational area with tables, fountains and a stone enclosure. It offers panoramic views of parts of the municipality of Entrimo, the mountain range of the Sierra de O Xurés–Gerês Nature Park and parts of the Limia Valley.

Water

The recreational area at the Pacín river pools includes a riverside promenade, picnic tables with benches and a dog area. The municipal river pools of Pacín consist of three pools with different water levels. Pozo Caído and its waterfalls are located along the Pacín River and can be accessed for swimming from the Área Recreativa das Perdices in Entrimo.

Corga das Rozadas waterfall can be reached from Entrimo via a road towards Queguas, followed by a path down to the river. Numerous rapids and waterfalls form along the river near Corga das Rozadas, some of which create small natural pools. The Pozas de Mallón can be reached from the village of Olelas on foot or by car via approximately three kilometres of route. The access route passes along paths and bridges over the Barcia River, enabling a crossing of the border between Spain and Portugal.

Trails

Vieiro das Mámoas is a 49-kilometre circular hiking trail through the municipalities of Verea, Bande, Lobeira, Lobios and Entrimo. The Ruta del Río Agro is a circular route of scenic and natural interest that crosses the Agro River via old bridges and historic paved paths. The Queguas–Pena de Anamán route passes by the Casa da Moura dolmen.

Culture

The Museo Pura Santos is a public municipal museum that opened on 29 March 2014 and is dedicated to the local teacher Pura Santos. The Casa de Represa manor house was built in 1748 in Casal de Alén by the parish priest D. Antonio Manjón. Every year, on the first Sunday in June, the Fiesta de exaltación de la empanada de Forquellas y la carne de vaca cachena de Entrimo takes place. It celebrates Empanada de Forquellas and Cachena beef from the Serra de O Quinxo.
