Culture and architecture

The construction of Pazo de Rizal was commissioned by José de la Vega y Río in the mid-18th century; both the construction period and the client are clearly identified. The main façade of Pazo de Rizal features a wrought-iron balcony, a distinctive detail of the exterior architecture. As private property, Pazo de Rizal is not open to visitors. Its construction history is therefore linked to a specific name and a clearly defined period. The wrought-iron balcony belongs to the main façade and is thus described as part of the exterior design of Pazo de Rizal.

Capela de Santiago has a timber-roofed nave and a main chapel with a hipped roof. In front of the façade of Capela de Santiago there is a porch with three large round arches. A 16th-century yellow-metal lamp hangs from the roof structure inside Capela de Santiago. The building therefore includes both the wooden nave and the separately identified main chapel. Its roof shape is specified as a hipped roof. The porch is situated in front of the façade and features three large round arches. Inside or on the roof structure, there is also the documented yellow-metal lamp from the 16th century.

Festivals

The festival of San Vicente is celebrated in Lagoa on 22 January. The traditional Festa dos Callos is part of the San Vicente festival in Lagoa. On 25 July, Lagoa holds the festival and fair of Santiago. The January date is associated with San Vicente and the Festa dos Callos. The July date belongs to Santiago and includes both the festival and the fair. Both details explicitly name Lagoa as the location of the celebrations.
