Coast and Landscape

The AC-550 road runs along the coast in the surroundings of Uhía through the Enseada de Esteiro landscape area. This landscape area contains a habitat with Atlantic sea cliffs. There is a network of paths and trails on the hillsides around Uhía. From Cabo Uía, visitors can see A Creba Island in the surrounding region.

Trails and Routes

The “Circular Esteiro - O Freixo” loop route begins at the AC-550 road. Its endpoint is on the same road level with Uhía Beach in Esteiro. The route is approximately 11 kilometres long and is a hiking route. It passes through the municipalities of Muros and Outes.

The approximate length of 11 kilometres describes the total extent of the loop route. The start and finish are on the AC-550 at the level of Uhía Beach in Esteiro, while the route passes through Muros and Outes. The route thus includes both its named starting and ending point and the two municipalities along its course.

At the beginning of the loop route, the “Ruta dos Muiños do Río Uhía” forms an 800-metre section. This short initial part of the route therefore has its own name within the loop route. “Stage 2: Esteiro (Uhía) - Serra de Outes” is the second stage of the Muros-Noia-Santiago Way of Saint James. The first section of this stage passes through a eucalyptus forest. It is short and unmarked.

The 800 metres of the “Ruta dos Muiños do Río Uhía” are located at the beginning of the longer loop route. In addition, the “Esteiro (Uhía) - Serra de Outes” stage belongs to the Muros-Noia-Santiago Way of Saint James and is numbered two there. Its first section is characterised by the eucalyptus forest, its short length and its lack of markings.

Beach and Viewpoints

Sunbathing is possible at Uhía Beach. You can swim there. Relaxing is also possible on the beach. Punta Uhía offers a wide panoramic view of the surroundings. Punta Uhía is suitable for watching the sunset.
