Route and History

You can follow the Camiño Mariñán from the port of Fontán in Sada through Bergondo to Betanzos. The Castro de Reboredo is designated as one of the notable and worthwhile points along the Camiño Mariñán route.

The Church of San Juan de Ouces was completed in 1248. It was rebuilt in the 17th century. It preserves a medieval sarcophagus on four columns, featuring the recumbent effigy of its founder.

This means that along the Camiño Mariñán there is both a designated point at Reboredo and the Church of San Juan de Ouces, with its clearly identified traces from different historical periods. The sarcophagus adds a single piece of furnishings, still preserved in the church interior, to the building’s history.

Water and Nature

The Área de lecer de Reboredo recreational area is located in Ouces and offers opportunities for fishing and swimming. With its impounded river water, the area recreates a natural swimming pool.

In the water area, therefore, two explicitly mentioned activities come together at the same local feature: the impounded river water forms the natural swimming pool, where fishing and swimming are possible. The name Área de lecer de Reboredo refers to the specific location in Ouces.

Festivals and Empanada

For planning the dates of the Feste de San Xoán de Ouces, a period from Friday to Sunday around 24 June is indicated. In Tatín, Ouces, the Festa da Empanada has been celebrated since 2002. The 2025 edition included a tasting of empanada with traditional fillings. Also in Tatín, Ouces, the Festa da Fragachán has been celebrated irregularly for more than 100 years.

The three festival details differ in their timing: San Xoán is associated with a weekend around 24 June, the empanada celebration has existed since 2002, and the Festa da Fragachán has been held in Tatín for more than a century, although irregularly. The 2025 empanada edition also included a tasting with traditional fillings.
