Nature and Coast
The mobile dune Duna móvil de Corrubedo lies north of the natural area. It is located behind A Ladeira Beach. It is approximately 1 km long. The dune is up to 250 m wide and around 15 m high. It is considered the largest dune in northern Spain.
Anyone incorporating the Duna móvil into a walk should observe the protection rule at this point: entering the dune on foot is prohibited in order to protect it. A Ladeira Beach is the beach closest to Corrubedo.
The Laguna de Vixán is a freshwater lagoon by the sea. The northern boundary of the Parque Natural Complejo Dunar de Corrubedo y Lagunas de Carregal y Vixán runs along the village of Corrubedo and the access road leading there from Artes.
The road is designated AC-303. It connects Santa Uxía de Ribeira with Corrubedo.
The landscape thus combines several clearly defined elements: the mobile dune behind A Ladeira, the freshwater lagoon by the sea and the AC-303 access road between Santa Uxía de Ribeira and Corrubedo. At the park boundary, the village of Corrubedo and the road leading from Artes meet the natural area.
Birdlife
If you choose birdwatching as the focus of a route, the ornithological route leads from the Castro de Baroña to Cabo de Corrubedo. It partly runs through the Parque Natural Complejo Dunar de Corrubedo y Lagunas de Carregal y Vixán.
A birdwatching centre is located on the southern shore of the Laguna de Vixán. The centre is situated at an elevated position.
The route starts at the Castro de Baroña and ends at Cabo de Corrubedo; its partial course through the nature park connects both named points with the protected natural area. The elevated centre is located on the southern shore of the Laguna de Vixán.
