Culture
The MUVI offers a historical tour of Villafranca de los Barros, from the earliest evidence of organised settlement in the Palaeolithic to the beginning of the 20th century. The museum’s vehicle collection conveys the history of motorsport and motorised transport at international, national and local levels. A dedicated section presents the art music and popular forms of music from Villafranca de los Barros.
The parish church of Santa María del Valle is designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural and is located in the centre of Villafranca de los Barros. It was built in the 16th century at the request of the Order of Santiago and financed by the town council. Its Puerta del Perdón is considered one of the finest examples of late Flamboyant Gothic in the province of Badajoz.
The Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Coronada contains a Rococo altarpiece installed in the second half of the 18th century, which houses the original 16th-century image of Nuestra Señora de la Coronada. The sanctuary is one of the first religious buildings erected after the founding of the town of Villafranca de los Barros. The Convento de las Hermanas de la Cruz was originally a hospital for the poor founded in the 18th century by D. Hilario Fernández Torrado.
The Casa de Cultura is the oldest industrial building in Villafranca de los Barros and the first monument there to be designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural. Several exhibition rooms containing the factory’s original machinery are located on the upper floors of the main building. The former Electro-Harinera de San Antonio is a good example of industrial architecture in Villafranca de los Barros.
Wine and Gastronomy
The traditional “Velá” de la Coronada and Fiesta de la Vendimia is recognised as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Regional. It includes, among other activities, a traditional representation of grape treading, tastings and popular competitions.
Gastromúsica is an annual food festival featuring a dinner accompanied by music in the bullring. Several restaurants and catering companies from Extremadura prepare a selection of dishes for approximately 300 guests to taste.

The Ruta por el Patrimonio de Villafranca is a 4-kilometre circular trail with a low level of difficulty and a stated duration of 90 minutes. Its length, difficulty level and duration give the trail a clearly defined format for planning your day.
