Culture

The Iglesia de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora is a 16th-century church that combines Mudéjar, Gothic and Late Romanesque styles. The church contains an altarpiece by Juan de Holanda and Diego de Aguilar.

The Fuente de la Niña stands on the Plaza Mayor and is also known as “La Niña” or “La Morita”. The 19th-century bronze figure, or fountain, depicts a girl with a swan. Next to the Parque de la Constitución is the Monumento a los apicultores, a sculpture showing a beekeeper at work.

At the entrance to the town stands the Rollo de Santa Ana, a medieval granite column that once illustrated that a legal system was in force in the villa.

Corpus Christi is celebrated in Fuenlabrada de los Montes in June. The festival is considered significant and includes a performance by the local “diablos”. During the celebration, they decorate the streets with sawdust images and messages; altars are set up in the town centre and hand-embroidered cloths are hung from the balconies. Early in the morning, the “diablos” appear to wake the residents and offer lupins in exchange for donations.

Nature

The 861-metre-high Cantos Negros peak is located in Fuenlabrada de los Montes. The picturesque Reserva Natural del Robledillo nature reserve is also located there and is considered of tourist interest.

Experiences

Around 3 km from Fuenlabrada de los Montes, the Museo de la Miel is located in a landscape on Monte del Acebuche. It conveys the history and tradition of beekeeping, the beekeeping model, beehives, hive products, honey extraction and the importance of bees for biodiversity. In one room, visitors can experience three beehives; visits are possible by appointment.

The SL-BA 199 Senda de la Pretura leads into the La Pretura area. A small botanical footpath runs there along both banks of the Río Guadalemar, with recreational areas and sections featuring footbridges. The Pretura del Molino is a natural swimming area with picnic sites, barbecue facilities and toilets, and is also suitable for fishing.
