El Pla de Manlleu lies on the right bank of the Riera de Marmellar, a tributary of the Foix River, and northeast of the Serra de Montmell. The surrounding area has high landscape value. The areas around El Pla de Manlleu are largely planted with grapevines. Penedès +500 is a wine-tourism initiative based in El Pla de Manlleu, whose vineyards lie more than 500 m above sea level. The indication of more than 500 m refers to the vineyards of this initiative. It combines a walk through the vineyards and a wine-growing workshop with wine served together with cheese, regional cured sausages, farm bread and olive oil from the estate itself. Penedès +500 also offers a wine experience featuring a walk through organic vineyards and grape harvesting. Celler Joan Grill offers a walk through its vineyards followed by a wine tasting with food pairings. Romanesque traces and remains of medieval settlements

Many farmhouses around El Pla de Manlleu preserve the remains of medieval buildings. In the immediate surroundings of El Pla de Manlleu lies the abandoned settlement of Selma, characterised by the ruins of Castell de Selma and the parish church of Sant Cristòfol. The Sant Miquel Chapel lies a short distance from El Pla de Manlleu in a forest and is classified as a BCIL. It has a completely Romanesque, semicircular apse. The remains of the Torre de la Guinovarda form a rectangular tower with a footprint of 7 × 5 m and a height of 3 m. The defensive tower Torre dels Galls Carnuts has retained all four walls of its fortification structure. The rectangular shape of the Torre de la Guinovarda differs from the semicircular apse of Sant Miquel Chapel.

A local tradition throughout the year

During the Festa del pi de maig, the inhabitants of El Pla de Manlleu fetch a large pine tree every year on the night before the last day of April and replant it in a central location. The custom is thus tied geographically to a central location and temporally to the last night of April.
