In el Palau d’Anglesola stands the Església Sant Joan Baptista, a neoclassical church built between 1798 and 1807. In the old town is Cal Massot, a 16th-century manor house of which only the stone façade remains.

Culture

The Ermita de Santa Llúcia is a 16th-century chapel built onto the cemetery wall; it has a square floor plan and a stone façade. Part of the Cooperativa del camp Sant Roc was built by the architect Cèsar Martinell i Brunet and displays Modernist features. La Passió was performed from 1953 to 1971 at the Teatre Victòria in el Palau d’Anglesola, revived in the 1980s and finally discontinued in 1992.

The surviving elements of Cal Massot are also clearly defined: the stone façade of the former manor house in the old town has been preserved. The chapel of Santa Llúcia complements this historic fabric with its location on the cemetery wall and its square floor plan.

Routes

The auxiliary canal of the Canal d’Urgell, known locally as the sub-canal, crosses the municipal area. The Camí Ignasià passes through the area of el Palau d’Anglesola. In el Palau d’Anglesola, the Camí Ignasià is signposted with the appropriate waymarkers. The pilgrim refuge in el Palau d’Anglesola is run by 23 volunteer hospitaleros from the Amics del Camí association. The Camí de Sant Jaume continues through el Palau d’Anglesola along the Catalan route towards Lleida and Santiago de Compostela.

For the Camí Ignasià, both its route through the area and the existing signposting are therefore mentioned. The pilgrim refuge is described in more detail, including its 23 volunteer hospitaleros and the Amics del Camí association. The Camí de Sant Jaume follows the Catalan route towards Lleida and Santiago de Compostela.

The Parc dels Drets de la Infància i Adolescència has a circular walking path, a skate park and a zip line.

Festivals

The Festa Major d’estiu takes place on 29 August in honour of Sant Joan Baptista and includes, among other things, Sardana dances, Correfocs, a fireworks display and the Matinal Cicloturista cycling tour. During the Sant Joan, Diada dels Països Catalans celebration on 24 June, the Flama del Canigó is carried through the streets and squares of the town on the night of 23 June, and a communal bonfire is lit. An Aplec in honour of the saint takes place every year on 16 August in the Parc de l’ermita de Sant Roc.

The festival dates are associated with different activities: the Festa Major d’estiu includes Sardana dances, Correfocs, a fireworks display and the Matinal Cicloturista. During Sant Joan, the Flama del Canigó is carried through streets and squares on the night of 23 June, while the Aplec takes place on 16 August in the Parc de l’ermita de Sant Roc.
