Discover Mollet de Peralada

Culture

If you are interested in Romanesque architecture, you will encounter the Església de Sant Cebrià in Mollet de Peralada, a Romanesque church from the 12th century that was extensively remodelled at a later date. Its tall bell tower is particularly striking. The Romanesque building preserves a semicircular apse with a mandorla-shaped vault.

In the hamlet of Les Costes stands the Capella de Sant Joan de Degollaci, a single-nave church from the 18th century with a rectangular floor plan, a single rectangular nave and a bell gable. Mollet de Peralada was once owned by the monasteries of Sant Quirze de Colera and Santa Maria de Vilabertran.

An earlier Romanesque building phase and a later religious building from the 18th century thus meet in the village. At Sant Cebrià, the many later alterations are just as much a part of its architectural history as the preserved apse; at the chapel in Les Costes, the single nave and bell gable define its appearance.

Wine and landscape

At Celler La Vinyeta, you can take a tour through the estate itself. Tocat de l'Ala sustainably farms six hectares of vineyards with vines between 30 and 100 years old at the foot of the Serra de l’Albera. The vineyards are spread across the municipalities of Mollet de Peralada, Peralada and Garriguella.

The vineyards therefore bring together vines of different ages and several locations. The Finca La Garriga is home to Castell Peralada’s oldest vines: Garnatxa and Samsó, both more than 50 years old. Thus, in addition to Celler La Vinyeta’s own estate, the vineyards of Tocat de l'Ala and Finca La Garriga are also associated with their own names and characteristics.
