El Mas Pinell: Beach, Dunes and Coastal Paths

Beach on the Ter

On the right bank of the River Ter lies Mas Pinell Beach. It naturally continues La Pletera Beach and stretches as far as the border with Pals Beach.

The beach can be reached on foot or by car. The main access is via the road between Torroella de Montgrí and Palafrugell; from this road, a turn-off leads to the Mas Pinell development. Before travelling, current traffic information and, where applicable, public transport timetables can be checked.

Coastal Paths and Dunes

The route from Pals to Torroella de Montgrí along the coast passes through the coastal dunes of La Fonollera to the Gola del Ter. Another section of this route passes by the Bassa de l’Anser near the centre of Mas Pinell. For coastal routes, checking current trail conditions before setting out is part of the usual preparation.

The dunes on the beaches of the bay of l’Estartit and Pals are a particularly sensitive priority habitat of the nature park. Managing this habitat also includes regulating access for public use. The dunes are therefore not only part of the landscape but also an area with special protected status and regulated public use.

Water Sports and Horse Riding

Horse riding is possible on the dunes behind Mas Pinell Beach. On the beach itself, there is an area for practising surfing as well as a water sports equipment rental service. For surfing facilities and equipment rental, current opening or usage times can be checked before visiting.

Visitor Information at the Beach

At the final section of Mas Pinell Beach, level with Carrer Cuereta, a solar-powered emergency intercom is installed. In addition, the municipal lifeguard service is also provided at Mas Pinell Beach in July and August. The intercom is tied to a specific section of the beach, while the lifeguard service operates during a clearly stated period in summer.

Nearby Beaches

The surrounding area of Mas Pinell includes Platja de la Fonollera, a beach; Playa De Gola, a beach; Platja de la Gola del Ter, a beach; and Cala Moreta, a beach.

Castles and Archaeology

The area around Mas Pinell includes Castell de Pals, a castle, and Castell de Begur, a castle. Also nearby are the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya - Ullastret, a museum, and Ullastret, an ancient site. For museums and ancient sites, checking current opening hours before visiting is part of the usual travel preparation.
