Culture

The Torre Blanca was built in the mid-15th century and now serves as an exhibition centre. The Church of Santa María de la Asunción is a single-nave building from the 16th century and represents the transition from Gothic to Renaissance architecture. It preserves a processional cross from the 16th century and a painting depicting the contemplation of the body of Saint Francis.

Five heraldic coats of arms belonging to the nobility are still preserved on the façades in Jorquera’s historic town centre. The “Caño” is an aqueduct carved into the rock that crosses the rocky promontory on which Jorquera stands at its narrowest point, carrying water from the irrigation channel on the riverbank to the channels in the gorge.
