The PR-55 “Vuelta a Cabeza de Víllora” is a 15.5-kilometre circular route starting and ending in Víllora’s village square. A detour leads to the Mirador de Las Hoces; the route also offers an optional ascent to the 1,207-metre-high Cabeza de Víllora. The GR 66 runs along a 16-kilometre section between Víllora and Enguídanos near the Río San Martín and then continues to the Río Cabriel. The two distances help you compare the circular route and the section as different hiking formats.

Nature

Las Chorreras del Cabriel, a natural area shaped by the Río Cabriel, is located in the municipality of Víllora in the province of Cuenca. It comprises rapids, waterfalls and crystal-clear pools. Las Chorreras del Cabriel was recognised by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve in 2019. The area offers opportunities for hiking, water sports and nature tourism, as well as birdwatching in particular. Culture and History

The Torre Albarrana de Víllora preserves the remains of the original castle complex, gate and tower. It probably dates from the 12th century; possible later-added Gothic-Christian elements can be seen on its cornice. The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción has a decorated coffered ceiling with seven tie beams. The Ermita de la Virgen de Castil de Olivas features 18th-century Baroque paintings on the three walls of the presbytery and on the ceiling.

Víllora’s traditional main fountain has eight spouts and historically supplied the entire population with water. Next to the fountain is a covered, enclosed public washhouse with two continuous washing slabs, which is still in use. A pilgrimage and main festival currently take place in Víllora on the second Saturday in May.

La Playeta de Víllora can be reached from the road between Cardenete and Víllora via a signposted entrance. The vehicle is parked in the designated area; from there, an unpaved path leads on foot to the river. A simple, fully equipped municipal pilgrims’ hostel for two to three people is located in the former premises of Víllora’s wine cooperative.
