Villanueva de Guadamejud is located in La Alcarria in the province of Cuenca. The town’s landscape is shaped by the Guadamejud River, which gives the town its name. Villanueva de Guadamejud was founded on an older settlement or former town and was initially a hamlet of Huete until it became independent from Huete in 1597 through Philip II.

Buildings and History

The Iglesia Parroquial San Pedro Ad Víncula is a single-nave building of Romanesque origin. The Castillo de Ahmed-Hud is open to visitors, accessible via the CU-212, and is a medieval military fortress from the Islamic-medieval period.
