Culture and History

The Torre nº 107 de telegrafía óptica de Carrascosa del Campo is classified as a historic site and an immovable cultural asset from the 19th century. It is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural; its registration in the DOCM is dated 4 August 2020. The Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Natividad in Carrascosa del Campo is also a monument protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural.

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Natividad is considered a Gothic and Renaissance building, constructed between the 15th and 16th centuries. Its construction shapes the silhouette of Carrascosa del Campo and dominates the town's skyline. The Ermita de Santa Ana complements this historic setting with a long construction history: its construction began in 1518, in the 18th century the chapel was declared to be in a dilapidated state, and in 1926 the original chapel was rebuilt.

In 2018, the fifth centenary of the construction of the Ermita de Santa Ana was celebrated. In the same context, the year was declared a Holy Year by the Pope. The Santa Ana sanctuary is also a local recreational area where families and friends meet for walks or leisure activities.

Trails and Townscape

In the Sierra de Carrascosa area, the Torre de Carrascosa is referred to as Telégrafo 107. After leaving Carrascosa del Campo and crossing the Río de la Vega, a section of the GR-163 continues, designated as the Ruta del Cristal de Hispania BTT CU-04. This route connects Ercávica with San Clemente.

The walk at the sanctuary and the designated BTT connection represent different ways of viewing the town and its surroundings. The various forms of activity can be considered separately when making personal plans, without this implying any particular sequence.

Wine Connection

Carrascosa del Campo is one of the municipalities in the province of Cuenca included in the D.O. Vino de Uclés. The wine connection therefore stands alongside the buildings, the sanctuary and the trails as an independent aspect of the town.

The patron-saint festivities in honour of Santa Ana, held from 24 to 27 July, include a floral offering, processions in honour of Santa Ana, concerts, verbenas, as well as bull and calf shows.
