The Ruta Plaza de Los Moros starts at a car park 2 km from Horcajo de los Montes on the CM-4106. It is freely accessible, completed on foot and described as a 3.5 km circular route with an elevation difference of 150 m and a medium to low level of difficulty. Walking time is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The Ruta Sierra de Castellar de los Bueyes is also freely accessible and can be completed on foot or by mountain bike. The circular route is 5 km long and takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. The Ruta de la Chorrera de Horcajo de los Montes is a freely accessible hiking route with a low level of difficulty.

Guided 4x4 visits are offered in Cabañeros National Park from Horcajo de los Montes. They cover an extensive area and include a short walk with several observation stops. The Cabañeros National Park visitor centre has recreational and audiovisual rooms where the park’s natural assets, Mediterranean woodland, landscape, fauna and flora are presented. It is located 1 km from the centre of Horcajo de los Montes.

Culture and Local History

Outside the town stands the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, a small Baroque building surrounded by scrubland. The Iglesia parroquial de San Antonio Abad is a single-nave church with side chapels.

The Museo Etnográfico de Horcajo de los Montes displays more than 200 everyday objects associated with local farming and livestock-raising traditions. The museum also houses a wax press built from oak wood in the 19th century, which is considered unique in the comarca.

At the Lagar de Cera, a historic wooden building from the 19th century, the traditional production of Pitarra wine is presented.

Local Customs

During the Santa Lucía celebration in Horcajo de los Montes, traditional bonfires are lit in the town hall square on 12 December.
