Discover Alpera: Rock Art, Hiking Trails and Holiday Apartments
Alpera is home to the Iglesia de Santa Marina, a Baroque church built in the 18th century and protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC). Guided tours of the Levantine rock art in Alpera are available for individuals and groups by prior registration; they take place in the mornings, including Saturdays and Sundays. The fixed morning period gives the tours a clearly defined timeframe.
Culture
The cave paintings comprise more than one hundred figures in different styles and on different themes. They include human depictions as well as depictions of deer and goats. The paintings are located on Cerro El Bosque, which is over 1,200 metres high and about four kilometres from Alpera. The Ermita de San Roque was completed in 1771. To visit it, you must ask for the key at the parish.
The Camino de Santiago-Camino de la Lana passes by the Parroquia de Santa Marina, leading across Plaza de la Iglesia and along Calle San Juan; Calle San Juan is signposted. Castillo de Almansa is a castle in the vicinity of Alpera. Also in the vicinity is Museo Batalla de Almansa, a museum. The Palace of Condes de Cirat is a palace in the vicinity of Alpera. Further afield in the region around Alpera is Castillo de Ayora, a castle. This means that different types of destinations stand side by side in the cultural surroundings: a historic route, a castle, a museum and a palace.
Nature
Parque Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente is a botanical park of about two hectares near the town, with pine trees, olive trees, holm oaks and two water sources. Alpera has six signposted hiking trails. These include circular routes starting in the town, as well as further circular routes starting at the hostel of the Aula de la Naturaleza de la Casilla de Peones Camineros in Monte Pinar. The different starting points help distinguish the circular routes by their point of departure. For planning purposes, this makes it possible to first separate the routes starting in Alpera from those starting in Monte Pinar; the number of signposted routes remains manageable. The park complements these routes with a botanical site within the town.
Other places to discover: El Morrión, San Pedro, Villarrobledo, Bogarra, Letur, Alcaraz, Peñarrubia and Reolid.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Alpera, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be considered as separate details. These three points can be kept separate and compared side by side, while the town's cultural and scenic destinations provide the thematic framework for the trip.
