Villafufre offers access to distinctive architectural heritage: the Palacio de los Escobedo in Escobedo de Villafufre dates from the 17th to the 18th century.

When booking a holiday apartment in Villafufre, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions are among the details used to compare accommodation. The area's themes—architectural heritage, wine and the March—stand alongside one another; they offer different perspectives on travel planning without limiting the stay to a single route or a single experience.

Culture

In Vega is the Biblioteca Lope de Vega, the former home of Lope de Vega. Its façade is made of dressed stone; the building has a square floor plan and two storeys.

In Vega de Villafufre, the Rollo Heráldico is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the Monument category. The freestanding monument is built of dressed stone, has a circular floor plan and is crowned by an imperial eagle.

History

The Monasterio de La Canal in Vega, Villafufre, is protected as a Bien de Interés Local in the category of immovable cultural heritage. The complex comprises a Franciscan church and a Conceptionist convent dating from the 18th century.

The church and the arches opened on both sides of the presbytery contain two tomb sculptures of the monastery's founders, works by the sculptor Gabriel de Rubalcaba.

The Church of Villafufre is known for its folk altarpieces, which are of particular interest.

Landscape

The Monasterio de La Canal stands on a projecting slope halfway up an east-facing hill.

Several enclosures in the municipality of Villafufre retain very simple, partly solid-looking, round Cubos in the form of small towers. The most representative Cubos are located in the enclosure of a manor house in Vega, at the junction towards Saro. The Cubos probably date from the 18th century.

Wine

Bodega y Viñedo Señorío del Pas offers a tour of its vineyards and winery with a tasting in San Martín de Villafufre.

This experience includes learning how the grapes are cultivated and how they are processed at the winery. The tasting concludes with the winery's own wines and regional products.

Routes

For Villafufre, the transport timetable lists departures from Vega to Santander.

The Marcelo Mateo Memorial March reached its fifth edition; more than 400 people took part in the fifth edition.

The March began and ended in San Martín, passed through Las Bárcenas, Susvilla and Vega, climbed to Alto Caballar and continued as far as Sandoñana.

The different focal points can be clearly distinguished: buildings and sacred art form the cultural thread, the bodega combines viticulture with winery work, and the March represents a route through several places. This leaves the choice of daily interests up to each visitor instead of bringing everything together under a single theme.
