For holiday apartments in Argomilla, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions are separate details to consider when planning an individual trip. These three points can be considered separately and compared with your own requirements, without equating the accommodation selection with the cultural and natural destinations described.

Culture and History

The Palacio de Ceballos “El Caballero” is a protected Bien de Interés Local in Argomilla de Cayón. Its façade is made of dressed stone and rests on four arcades supported by pilasters; the coats of arms bear crosses of the Order of Santiago and the Order of Calatrava. A tree-lined processional path runs beside the Iglesia Románica de San Andrés.

San Andrés was mentioned in a document from 1404 as an abbey with Abbot Fernán González. In a side aisle to the right of the church, there is a collection of 18 medieval sarcophagus slabs. The medieval sarcophagus slabs probably date from the Romanesque and Gothic periods; the surviving years are 1169, 1185 and 1262.

Nature and Trails

In the wider regional area surrounding Argomilla, the fully signposted trail PR S-54 runs across the Sierra del Caballar and offers views of the Campoo mountains and the Bay of Santander.

The route El Arroyo de Argomilla runs along the northern side of the Sierra del Caballar through a river basin shaped by the Arroyo de Argomilla. The route passes through meadows, riparian woodland and mixed deciduous forest. For route planning, the Sierra landscape and river basin can be compared as different landscape focuses.

The two trails therefore have different focal points: PR S-54 connects the Sierra del Caballar with the views mentioned above, while El Arroyo de Argomilla describes the course of a river basin and the transition between meadows, riparian woodland and mixed deciduous forest. The natural features can thus be distinguished according to long-distance views and landscape types.
