The Iglesia de San Juan Bautista was built in the 17th and 18th centuries and is also known as San Juan el Pajarón. Inside the church is a sculpture of Cristo de la Buena Muerte.

The Fundación Ánaz was founded by D. Luis María de la Torre y de la Hoz, Count of Torreanaz, in December 1900.

Architecture and Nature

The Palacio del Conde de Torreánaz was built at the end of the 19th century and renovated at the beginning of the 20th century. It features eclectic architecture that combines elements of Baroque manor houses with characteristics of late-19th-century academicism.

The garden of the Palacio del Conde de Torreánaz includes a beautiful, dense park with four trees recognised as Árboles Singulares de Cantabria. Ánaz is also home to the famous “encinona” of Ánaz. The palace grounds therefore include the dense parkland and four recognised individual trees.

Historical Traces

The Molino de Anaz is an industrial monument from the 16th century and is classified as belonging to the Early Modern period. The Molino de Anaz is in very poor condition; only the roofless walls without masonry and the inner partition walls remain, while some parts of the mill machinery and several round millstones are still visible.
