Beaches and Coastline

On the west coast of Playa Blanca lies Playa Flamingo, with white sand and calm waters. Playa Dorada is located east of Playa Blanca; it is a partly artificial beach with golden sand and clear water, where two breakwaters calm the waves. Diving, jet ski rental and various water attractions are available at Playa Dorada.

Culture and History

Every July, Playa Blanca celebrates the Fiestas del Carmen. They include a land procession on 16 July, a sea procession the following day and a concluding fireworks display.

Castillo de Las Coloradas, also known as Torre de las Coloradas or Torre del Águila, is a monument protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural. Torre de Las Coloradas, also known as Torre del Águila, was built between 1741 and 1744 as a defensive tower against incursions by the Berbers. As an 18th-century national monument, it is included in the catalogue of Lanzarote’s historical and artistic heritage.

Water and the Underwater World

Nautical activities at Marina Rubicón include jet skiing, parasailing, introductory diving and visits to Museo Atlántico. Marina Rubicón also offers various nautical options with or without a skipper or licence, including electric boats, catamarans and sailing boats.

Museo Atlántico de Lanzarote is Europe’s first underwater art museum. The underwater sculpture ensemble of Museo Atlántico de Lanzarote is located in the Bay of Las Coloradas. Dives to Museo Atlántico from Playa Blanca take approximately 40 to 45 minutes and follow the recorded route between the sculptures.

Getting Around Playa Blanca

Several interurban bus routes connect Playa Blanca with other places in the municipality of Yaiza and with further areas of the island of Lanzarote. Local bus services start at 6:30 a.m. at the bus station and end there at 10:00 p.m.
