Las Tricias on La Palma: Almond Blossom, Trails and Culture

Las Tricias lies on a hillside between ravines and is surrounded by almond trees. Traditional architecture includes imposing houses with wooden balconies, dark stone walls covered in white plaster, and tiled roofs. The almond blossom in winter is an impressive spectacle in Las Tricias. In this way, the village combines scenic impressions with characteristic traces of its architectural and agricultural history.

Landscape and Nature

From the Mirador Montaña las Tricias, you can see the coast of Las Tricias, which forms part of the Costa de Hiscaguán natural monument. The viewpoint thus opens up a view of the coastal landscape, while the ravines and almond trees shape the local character in the immediate surroundings.

On the way through the settlement of Buracas stands a centuries-old dragon tree. Buracas also has a path that can be explored on foot. The route from Las Tricias to the Dragos de Buraca is a short one.

Culture and History

The Museo de Interpretación del Gofio (MIGO) opened on 2 April 2016 in the former Molino de Las Tricias. The Molino de Las Tricias was in operation until 1953. Its former function therefore remains part of the village’s history, while the museum incorporates this past into a present-day cultural offering.

The Centro de Artesanía La Tahona is located in a small building that was formerly a tahona, or flour mill, and today serves for the exhibition and sale of traditional crafts. The Centro de Artesanía La Tahona is considered a museum and interpretation centre.

Festivals

The Quema de Judas celebration is characterised by the burning of Judas and the reading of a testament that criticises the municipality’s public life over the past year. The Quema de Judas and El Carmen celebrations take place in Las Tricias on the 15th and 16th.
