Puerto Rico begins at the water: Playa de Puerto Rico has calm, sheltered waters and fine golden sand.

Coast and harbour

Puerto Deportivo de Puerto Rico consists of two harbour basins with a combined six hectares of sheltered water and 531 moorings; it accommodates boats up to a maximum length of 60 metres. At Playa de Puerto Rico, there are rental services for water-sports equipment, sun loungers and parasols, as well as toilets, showers and foot-washing stations.

The waters off Puerto Rico are suitable for deep-sea fishing; Puerto Deportivo de Puerto Rico has specially equipped boats for this purpose. Along the coast, the calm sea and light winds are suitable for diving, parasailing and sailing; companies offer courses and rental of the necessary equipment for these activities. Puerto Rico Diving Center organises weekly snorkelling trips to explore the waters of Gran Canaria from the water’s surface.

Leisure

The Angry Birds Activity Park in Puerto Rico covers 5,000 m² and offers zip lines, climbing areas, trampolines, mini golf, ice skating, a racetrack and a splash zone. A day ticket allows visitors to leave and re-enter the park as often as they like throughout the day.

The leisure facilities have different focuses: the Activity Park brings together several active areas and a splash zone, while Parque Urbano combines inclusive playgrounds with a shaded picnic area. This makes it possible to treat active activities, water-sports courses and an urban park as separate elements when planning the day. Paseo Marítimo and the open-air shopping centre also expand the options with a waterside promenade, shops, cafés and restaurants. This highlights the differences between sport, play, walking and urban life.

Parque Urbano de Puerto Rico reopened after extensive redevelopment. It has accessible and inclusive play areas, including areas for children with disabilities, as well as play zones for children up to three years old and for children aged three to fourteen. The park also has a picnic area naturally shaded by the existing trees.

Walks and urban life

An approximately one-kilometre-long Paseo Marítimo connects Puerto Rico with Amadores and can be comfortably walked. Mogán Mall is an open-air shopping centre with facilities covering more than 15,000 m², shops, leisure areas, cafés and restaurants, as well as a large light fountain.

Other destinations besides Puerto Rico include Taurito, La Playa De Mogan, Patalavaca and La Playa De Arguineguín.

Culture

The Fiestas de María Auxiliadora 2025 took place in the Motor Grande district of Puerto Rico. Their programme included traditional, child-friendly, cultural, sporting and religious events. On the last day of the Fiestas de María Auxiliadora, there was a foam party at 12:00, followed by a mass and procession in honour of María Auxiliadora at 19:00.
