Hernani’s historic Old Town is designated as a cultural asset in the “Monumental Ensemble” category. The former walled complex was formed by the two longitudinal streets Andre kalea and Kale Nagusia and the cross street Felipe Sagarna “Zapa” kalea. Only five entrances provided access to this complex.

On 31 July, a pilgrimage takes place at the summit of Santa Barbara. It includes a mass, displays of rural sports, Bertsolaris and a communal meal.
