Kanpantxu: Hermitages, Goikoerrota Mill and Atlantic Landscape

The San Juan Bautista Hermitage stands in the Kanpantxu neighbourhood. The building is in very good condition. It was restored in 1981. The San Juan de Lemandaro Hermitage is also located in the same neighbourhood.

This means that two named hermitages are concentrated in the same neighbourhood of Kanpantxu. San Juan Bautista is further distinguished by its very good state of preservation and the year of its restoration, while San Juan de Lemandaro is another building located in the neighbourhood.

Culture

The Goikoerrota Mill is located in the Kanpantxu neighbourhood of Ajangiz. It is the only mill in Ajangiz that is still operational. It is privately owned. Its interior is not accessible.

The Goikoerrota Mill therefore combines its location in Kanpantxu with a special status within Ajangiz. Its function, private ownership and the lack of access to its interior are also essential to its public description.

The tower house of Ajangiz belonged to the Mentzeta family. It is the only surviving building of its kind in the town.
