Wine and the Townscape

The traditional wine cellars of Lapuebla de Labarca are grouped in the Barrio de las Bodegas on the slopes of a hill at the highest point of the town. This connects winegrowing and the historic townscape in a clearly defined part of the town.

By prior appointment, Bodegas Casado Morales offers tours of its facilities. The programme also includes wine tastings. Bodegas Casado Morales has three generations of winegrowing experience dating back to 1925. The visit therefore combines a tour of the facilities with an introduction to a winegrowing business with a long-standing history.

Lapuebla de Labarca is one of the municipalities along the Ruta del Vino de Rioja Alavesa. The Ruta del Vino de Rioja Alavesa is a year-round wine tourism programme with activities. When planning a tour or wine tasting, prior appointment should be taken into account.

In this sequence, the floodplain, vegetated islands, slopes and meanders stand directly alongside one another as distinct landscape elements.

Culture and Architecture

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción dates from the 16th century. The church displays a pronounced Renaissance character. The building thus brings together a clearly defined historical period of origin and the Renaissance as its architectural style.
