Culture and History

The Coves de Cala Blanca have been recognised since 1966 as an Asset of Cultural Interest, known in Spanish as Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC). The archaeological zone of Naveta de Cala Blanca (Ciutadella) is likewise designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural; its BIC registration number is 07015-55-000346-PRT-02.
On Cala Blanca beach are the remains of a residential naveta dating from the pre-Talayotic period, between 2000 and 1500 BC. These remains are considered a representative example of the island's earliest domestic settlements. Thus, this coastal location brings together both a specific archaeological zone and a named example of early domestic settlement.
Routes and Getting There
On the Ciutadella–Cap d’Artrutx route, Cala Blanca can be reached after a 4-kilometre paved section. Traditional structures from Menorca's rural cultural landscape can be seen along this section, including “ses barraques”. Orchids may appear there in spring.
Cala Blanca is easy to reach by road if you follow the signs and turn-offs. Public transport also comes here; a bus stop is located near the coast.
