Cienfuegos in Quirós – Culture, Chapels and Mountain Trails

Casa Basilio in Cienfuegos dates from the mid-18th century. In Villar de Cienfuegos, the Chapel of Santa Teresa was built in 1905. An earlier chapel in Villar de Cienfuegos burned down in 1899.

In the vicinity of Cienfuegos, the Chapel of San Pelayo stands on a hill by the Lindes River along the local QU-4 road and belongs to the parish of San Esteban de Cienfuegos. After decades of deterioration, it was restored by the responsible authorities at the end of the 1990s. A mass is held at the chapel every year, initiated by several residents originally from the parish.

Trails through Quirós

In the vicinity of Cienfuegos, a route passes the remains of the former Mina de Mataoscura. The route “Por los praos de Vil.lar de Cinfuegos y Las Chanas” is a circular route in the El Fochagueo area of Quirós. Another route, “Vil.lar de Cinfuegos–Las Chanas–Cuevas”, follows the old path that connected Las Chanas and Cuevas.
