The Senda del Arcediano runs in the area around Tornín between the Puerto del Pontón and the surroundings of Tornín near Cangas de Onís. Historically, it was one of the most important transport routes between eastern Asturias and the Meseta. In the 10th century, it was known as the Vía Saliámica; its origins probably date back to Roman times.

Hiking and Trails

The Ruta a la Olla de San Vicente is a family-friendly, very easy circular hike with a length of 5.72 kilometres. It begins near Tornín at the N-625; there is a small car park at this starting point. The route is approximately 2.5 kilometres each way.

About ten minutes after the start of the trail, there is a medieval bridge with a pointed arch, which was probably built around the 13th century. Different route types and lengths can be compared when planning your own schedule.

Nature

The Río Dobra is a 23-kilometre-long river with pure, clear water, a tributary of the Sella and the western boundary of the Picos de Europa. Outside Tornín, it flows into the Río Sella at the boundary between the municipalities of Amieva and Cangas de Onís.

The first section of the Ruta a la Olla de San Vicente passes through a dense, shady riverside forest with elm, ash, alder, willow and maple trees. The Olla de San Vicente is a natural pool up to five metres deep, surrounded by light-coloured rocks and lush vegetation, with clear, very cold water.

The Ruta a la Olla de San Vicente partly passes through the Natura 2000 site ZEC Río Sella and through the ZEC and ZEPA Ponga-Amieva.

The Museo de Covadonga is a museum in the immediate vicinity of Tornín. The Mirador del Fitu is a viewpoint in the wider regional area. The Centro de Arte Rupestre de Tito Bustillo, a museum, is also located there.
