Teruel preserves a significant medieval heritage in its historic centre. An important Mudéjar ensemble has been declared a World Heritage Site. The city brings together architectural history, collections and a distinctive dinosaur theme – different highlights that can be clearly considered separately when planning your trip.

When comparing a holiday apartment in Teruel, you can review travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions side by side on the offer pages. For choosing a location, the cultural and dinosaur-related highlights can be considered separately and weighted according to your preferred daily schedule.

Culture

The Mudéjar architecture of Aragon is considered an exceptional heritage. It reflects an era in which three cultures with very different roots flourished together on Aragonese soil.

The Catedral de Santa María de Mediavilla is particularly striking: its tower, roof structure and cimborio are part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The Mudéjar tower dates from the 13th century, has a square layout and consists of three structures richly decorated with ceramics.

The Iglesia y Torre de San Pedro also represents this architectural style. It is a 14th-century Mudéjar building; its tower is made of brick and features inset ceramic elements.

The Iglesia y Torre de San Pedro also contains the Chapel of the Lovers. The tombs are located in an adjoining side room of the church.

The Museo de Teruel is housed in the Casa de la Comunidad, a 16th-century Renaissance building in the heart of the historic centre, near the cathedral. In the central Plaza del Torico stands a column with a small bull sculpture that has become a landmark of Teruel.

For planning purposes, the cultural sites can be organised by architectural history, religious architecture, museum and urban landmarks, without having to read about the same impressions repeatedly.

Cityscape and Routes

The Escalinata is a Neo-Mudéjar structure that connects Teruel’s city centre with the railway station. Its function complements the historic buildings with a visible element of urban connectivity.

Experiences

Dinópolis is designed as an educational park and provides an overview of dinosaurs through various attractions. The complex includes “Territorio Dinópolis”, a “Cine 3D”, a T-Rex attraction, numerous play areas for younger visitors and dining areas.

The “Museo Paleontológico de Teruel” exhibition is integrated into Dinópolis’s leisure offering. It displays original fossils as well as replicas of the most important fossil groups throughout Earth’s history.

Dinópolis is a dinosaur theme park in the immediate vicinity of the urban area of Teruel.

Cultural monuments, museum collections and dinosaur attractions offer different focal points. You can therefore compare the attractions mentioned according to historical interest, exhibition content or more play-oriented areas.
