Discover Cofita: Templar Church, Landscape and Wine

Cofita is home to the Romanesque Iglesia de Santa María Magdalena. The Templar Order built and founded it during its stay in the commandery and castle of Monzón. Its pointed-vaulted ceiling is characteristic of the transition between Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Inside, there are remnants of medieval murals from the 12th and 13th centuries. Engravings depicting Templar knights on foot and horseback can be seen on the outside of the church.

Festivals

Cofita celebrates its main festival days on 25 August in honor of Saint José de Calasanz. The Fiestas de San Blas include bonfires and a communal dinner and are associated with the celebrations of Santa Águeda. The Fiestas mayores of Cofita include a dinner in honor of the Cofita melon. On the eve, a Costillada is one of the gastronomic events of the Fiestas mayores.

Bodega Sers in Cofita produces wine with the Denominación de Origen Somontano designation. Bodegas Sers offers an aroma experience and a tasting of all six wines produced by the winery.
