Las Pajanosas combines the linear Sendero Las Pajanosas–El Garrobo hiking trail with a Dehesa landscape at the foot of the Sierra Morena and festivals throughout the year.

Hiking

The linear Sendero Las Pajanosas–El Garrobo hiking trail connects Las Pajanosas with El Garrobo. The Sendero is accessible on foot, by bicycle and on horseback. At 8.2 km long, the route is rated easy. Its course, permitted modes of travel, length and rating thus form a clearly defined trail description.

Nature

Parque de la Zahurdilla is located in Las Pajanosas in a Dehesa landscape at the foot of the Sierra Morena. The park is bordered by the Galapagar and El Sardinero streams. Several springs and wells are also part of this landscape.

Culture

The Romería del Rosario de Las Pajanosas takes place at the beginning of October. It begins after the morning Mass with the procession of the Simpecado on an ox-drawn cart. The route then continues to the place known as Las Majadillas in Parque de la Zahurdilla. Thus, the religious opening, the ox-drawn cart and the route to Las Majadillas are all part of this Romería.

The Feria de Las Pajanosas is scheduled for the last complete weekend of August in honour of the patron saint Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Over the course of the year, this places a festival in early October alongside another event on the last complete weekend of August.

Church

The parish church of Ntra Sra del Rosario is located at Calle Concepción Soto 5 on the former main road to Mérida. The simple building is designed in the costumbrist style. A small bell gable is located above the main entrance.

Food and drink

The former roadside stalls of Las Pajanosas along National Road 630, the Vía de la Plata, are associated with restaurants serving salmorejo and game dishes. The former status of the roadside stalls and the reference to these two types of food are part of this local description.
