Bollullos Par Del Condado: Discover Wine, Culture and Nature

Bollullos Par Del Condado can be explored through wine, sacred architecture, nature and a tradition of its own.

These three details provide a clear framework for organising your booking criteria.

Wine

At the Centro del Vino Condado de Huelva, local wine is presented in its cultural and geographical context. The exhibition covers almost 800 square metres. The Ruta del Vino Condado de Huelva includes lunch or dinner with wine pairing and a guided tasting.

The wine offerings therefore combine an exhibition with a shared meal, without both formats describing the same experience. For personal trip planning, cultural information, culinary accompaniment and the type of tasting can be considered as separate focal points.

Culture and History

The Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol has been classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) since 2007. The Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol de las Españas combines Mudéjar and Baroque elements; its façade and tower date from the 18th century. It preserves a wooden Mudéjar-style ceiling, Baroque grilles in the ambulatory dating from 1778, and an 18th-century baptistery.

The Ermita de Ntra. Sra. de las Mercedes stands on a hill outside the town; the present building was erected in 1927 in the colonial style. The chapel contains a hand-painted blue-and-white ceramic dado from the mid-20th century, created by Antonio Martínez Fernández. The Monumento de San Antonio del Pendique preserves a ceramic altarpiece of Saint Anthony of Padua from the 18th century. The Espacio cultural La Cárcel is used for art exhibitions and tourist visits.

At the cultural sites, style, construction period, material and use can be understood as different points of reference. Façades and towers, wooden ceilings, Baroque grilles, ceramic works and exhibitions represent different ways in which history and the present are made visible in the town.

Nature and Trails

The peri-urban nature park near the town features typical Mediterranean woodland vegetation, including holm oaks and cork oaks. The same nature park also has public water fountains, toilets, picnic areas, a children’s playground and a calisthenics area.

The Circuito Hinojos-Almonte-Bollullos: Pinares y Campiña is a 49.6-kilometre, moderately difficult route through Almonte, Hinojos and Bollullos Par del Condado. The route is accessible by bicycle and is suitable for cycling, hiking, birdwatching and nature observation. When planning, the main aspects to compare for this route are the activity type, difficulty level and route length.

The nature theme therefore encompasses both the landscape near the town and a longer connection through three municipalities. Information about the park facilities and the route helps consider these two ways of engaging with the surroundings separately and organise personal plans for the day accordingly.

Tradition

The festival is celebrated on 7 December; bundles or torches made from common asphodel (Asphodelus ramosus) are burned on this occasion.
