The Mezquita de Almonaster la Real is considered an exceptionally valuable historical and artistic ensemble and the only mosque in Spain that has survived almost intact to the present day in a rural setting.

Culture and History
The protected historic ensemble includes the hill on which the castle-mosque is located. The Mezquita de Almonaster la Real was built between the 9th and 10th centuries. Another protected building is the Iglesia Parroquial de San Martín, classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the category of Monument.
The Puerta del Perdón of the Iglesia Parroquial de San Martín was built in the Portuguese Manueline style from grey limestone and is one of the few examples of this style in Spain. The Plaza de Toros next to the castle and mosque of Almonaster was inaugurated on 19 July 1821 and has a circular interior with a diameter of 32 metres.
The Zona Arqueológica de Santa Eulalia, also called Zona arqueológica de Santa Eulalia y Ermita de Santa Eulalia, is located within the municipality of Almonaster La Real and is registered as a Bien de Interés Cultural. The Centro de Interpretación de la Cultura Islámica introduces visitors to Almonaster’s Islamic heritage and the cultural area of Almonaster and the Sierra as a whole.
The Fandango de Almonaster, also known as Fandango de Santa Eulalia, is performed in connection with the town’s pilgrimage to the Dehesa de la Arguijuela.

The Subida al Cerro de San Cristóbal circular hiking trail is 5.67 kilometres long, has a stated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes, and is classified as difficult. The Subida al Cerro de San Cristóbal route leads to the third-highest summit in the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Nature Park and to one of its most important viewpoints.
