Above Escúzar, the Mirador de la Cruz Mocha offers 360-degree panoramic views, including views of the Sierra Nevada. A marked circular trail with benches and several picnic tables was recently created in the area around the viewpoint. Nature, views and culture can be considered as different focal points when planning your trip.
Culture
The Torre de Escúzar is attached to the south wall of the village church. It was the starting point for the historic complex that today consists of the so-called Casa Grande, the parish church and the current town hall. The tower itself is a rectangular alquería tower with a base measuring 8.05 × 4.90 metres.
Its lower level corresponds to an old circular cistern with a diameter of 3.10 metres. It is considered the only cistern of its kind in the entire province. The Ermita del Cristo del Rescate was built in the 19th century; its interior has a small Latin-cross floor plan and preserves an image of the Cristo del Rescate. The first recorded mention of the Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Señora del Rosario dates from 1563.
Museums and Historic Sites
The Instituto de América Centro Damián Bayón museum is located in the area around Escúzar. The wider region around Escúzar also includes the “Winnie Pooh” Museum, the Casa Garcia de Viedma - Museo Etnográfico de Armilla and the ancient site of Acueducto de Cijancos. The different names and types of these places provide several cultural points of reference for planning your trip, without requiring them to form a single sightseeing route.
Landscape and Views
The wider region around Escúzar includes the Mirador San Nicolas, Mirador San Miguel Alto and Mirador del Cerro del Sol viewpoints. The Cerro Pintado summit is also located there. The area known as Cuevas del Agua consists of impressive green meadows surrounded by holm oaks and wild-growing flora. This gives you a range of different landscapes and viewpoints to include in your day plans.
This information helps you adapt your accommodation to your own travel plans, while the town’s cultural and landscape highlights remain visible. When choosing a holiday apartment in Escúzar, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be considered separately from the content-related highlights. The views from the viewpoint, the town’s history, the museums in the surrounding area and the landscapes of Cuevas del Agua therefore serve as distinct points of reference. This keeps the accommodation decision independent while making the variety of the topics mentioned clear. Those seeking stronger cultural impressions will find historic evidence in the town itself and various types of museums in the surrounding region; for nature interests, viewpoints, summits and the described meadow landscape provide different points of interest for orientation.
