Los Gallardos: Hiking Trail, Mills and Regional History

The Sendero de los Molinos Harineros is a hiking trail in the area of Los Gallardos and Alfaix. Along its route, the old grain mills recall the region’s traditional agriculture: the river’s water was used to grind grain. The Auto Sacramental de los Reyes Magos is celebrated in Los Gallardos every year on 6 January. History

Archaeological traces from Cadima appear in various forms. Among the significant finds from Cadima is a stone bearing a Latin inscription: “VR CO / EMIN / ORVMIN / XXV”. Some walls, part of the flooring and numerous roof tiles have survived from the Villa Romana Olvidada de Cadima. An inscribed individual artefact and structural remains thus provide two different approaches to the site’s past.

The finds from Cadima were either looted or recovered by the authorities to be displayed at the Museum of Almería. This information, too, forms part of the history of the archaeological evidence and describes how their subsequent paths differed.
