Holiday Apartment in Leskovec: Culture, Cycling Route and Landscape

A documented cycling route led from Slovenska Bistrica via Leskovec, Pragersko, Podlože and Črešnjevec back to Slovenska Bistrica. At the stops along the cycling route, the geographical and historical features of the places along the route were explored. The route therefore connects a starting point and destination with several clearly named stations. Leskovec is not isolated within this sequence but is connected with Pragersko, Podlože and Črešnjevec by a continuous route.

Culture

KUD Sloga Leskovec–Stari Log was officially founded on 3 August 1955 and staged 30 dramatic works over the course of its decades-long activities. In 2015, the association’s adult drama group performed “Denis in Ditka” by Tone Partljič at the cultural centre in Leskovec as part of the regional Linhart Theatre Programme. The founding, the long-standing stage activities and the specific theatre programme therefore belong to different points in the association’s history. Together, they demonstrate the connection between organised cultural work, dramatic performance and a named regional programme.

In 2025, KUD Sloga Leskovec–Stari Log included an adult drama group, a recitation group, a folk musicians’ group and a modern dance group. The Ajda Leskovec–Stari Log Tourist Association introduced local residents, younger generations and visitors from other places to local customs, traditions and the work of their ancestors. The event marking the 20th anniversary of the Ajda Tourist Association took place at the Leskovec–Stari Log cultural centre. Thus, the same location hosted both the 2015 theatre performance and the aforementioned anniversary event of the tourist association.

Landscape

The references to the landscape are spread across three spatial levels. In the immediate vicinity of Leskovec is graščina v Selah, a castle. In the area around Leskovec are Plešivec, a mountain, and Boč, a mountain. In the wider regional surroundings of Leskovec are Veliki Vrh, a mountain, and Žigertov Vrh, a mountain. The landscape is therefore named according to a graduated order: one castle is located in the immediate vicinity, two mountains are assigned to the surrounding area, and two further mountains are located in the wider regional surroundings. These relationships remain distinct and classify the named places according to their geographical proximity to Leskovec.
