Veržej showcases history, crafts and landscapes in specific places: along the Mura, in the market town, in museums and on marked trails. The Babičev mlin on the Mura is particularly distinctive. It is the only preserved and still-operating mill on the right bank of the Mura in Veržej. It is designated as a technical and cultural monument. Its wooden waterwheel, mounted outside, is installed on two boats. The mill offers various types of flour: white flour, rye flour, bread flour, buckwheat flour and corn flour.

Culture

Another special place is the Čebelarstvo Tigeli Bee Museum. The museum's beehive is octagonal and built according to a pavilion plan. Visitors can see honey extractors, hand smokers, wax presses and a more than 300-year-old log hive there. The museum also preserves a beehive dating from the late 19th century with its original equipment intact, representing exceptionally rich cultural heritage. Čebelarstvo Tigeli offers tours of its museum and herb gardens.

The Church of St Michael the Archangel in Veržej features high-quality Baroque architecture and is located in the centre of the market town. It was first mentioned in 1545 as a filial church of Križevci; its high altar dates from the second quarter of the 18th century.

Craft heritage is also the focus of the DUO Craft Centre. It comprises a pottery workshop, an exhibition and sales gallery, an ecomuseum and the Puščenjak Hall for exhibitions. Through various workshops and research camps, DUO passes on knowledge of the craft heritage of eastern Slovenia to younger generations.
