Pilgrims and the sick came to the church, as Saint Lucia was believed to help with eye diseases. The pilgrimage to Saint Lucia reached its peak around the middle of the 18th century. Traditional gatherings are documented as part of the pilgrimage to Saint Lucia on the fourth Sunday after Easter and on the Sunday after Saint James’ Day.

The Plague Column is located between Skaručna and Povodje. It consists of a round column on a round base, supporting a four-sided chapel with semicircular openings. The Plague Column probably dates from 1668. In addition to these visible structures, house names also preserve local traces: they help preserve the local dialect and are regarded as intangible cultural heritage of the rural area. Skaručna was planned for the first phase of the project on old house names in the Municipality of Vodice.

Skaručna is also connected with a specific biography: that of Jakob Alešovec. He was born in Skaručna on 24 July 1842.
